Biskupin
is a life-like reconstruction of a complete fortified
settlement. A visit gives one a good insight into life in
a Polish village during the Lusatian period. The site is
the centre for experimental archaeology and includes a

Podzamcze
Castle in the south of Poland is just one of many
fantastic ruins one can find here. This one, also known as
Grodzieniec Castle is thought to haunted by a
previous owner who appears as a ghostly black dog dragging
a chain! |
The
area around Zakopane, on the edge of the Tatra
Mountains, has several beautiful wooden churches. This
example dates from c1650. Other attractions include:
the best mountain hiking and skiing, and the Tatra
Folk Museum. |

The town of
Miedzyrzecz in the province of Lubuskie, though not
featured in many tourist guides, is well worth a visit.
Local attractions include: the 14th century castle, a
unique museum featuring coffin portraits, and German
underground fortifications. |
Gdansk
is an old Hanseatic city on the Baltic coast. Our
photograph shows the city's, 30 meter high, 15th century
crane. Other cities well worth visiting include: Szczecin,
Torun, Poznan
and Wroclaw. |

The Skull
Chapel in Czermna. In
1776 a local priest founded a church made up of human
skulls and tibia bones. All the bones were the
victims of the Silesian wars and epidemics. A stunning and
shocking place to visit. |
Malbork
Castle is the former seat of the Teutonic Knights'
Order and Europe's largest Gothic fortress. The castle and
its museum are on the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites.
The castle sited on the River Nogat was started about 1270
and was completed in 1404. Visitors can also see a
splendid collection of amber art in the museum. |

Wolsztyn
offers visitors a return to a different age. The town is
the location of the last mainline steam train depot in
Europe. On a daily basis passenger and freight trains
leave the depot on route to various locations all over
Poland. More |
Oswiecim
was the site of the Auschwitz (and nearby
Birkenau), German death camps where 1.5 million
people, mostly Jews, were murdered during the second world
war. More

The Palace
of Culture and Science in Warsaw
is a spectacular structure and offers the best view in
Warsaw. The towering Palace was built in the 1950's as a
gift from Stalin to the Polish nation and stands 234
metres high with more than 3000 rooms. More information
